haplome port

Posted by admin on Jan 6, 2009 in Uncategorized

haplome was left in an unfinished state because i got busy, but i plan on porting it soon for use with tuio multi-touch surfaces. the wifi connection on the iphone causes too much lag for use in performances.

laser light plane lcd multi-touch surfaces are relatively easy and inexpensive ($120-$200) to make, and this should make for a more useful performance tool.

haplome’s current status

Posted by admin on Nov 16, 2008 in Uncategorized

haplome was in the process of being rewritten (for the third time), when i had to take a break from coding.  i was falling behind on projects that have deadlines.

realistically i would guess the next haplome release is about a month away.  if anyone would like to pick up development, let me know and i can fill you in on where i last left off.

osx 10.4 & pc users

i am working on a separate branch of haplome (probably called haplomeOSC) that uses osc to communicate instead of bonjour. this should probably work for you since haplomeOSC connect will run in max/msp instead of a native osx app.

haplomeOSC will be released simultaneously with v1.2 release of haplome.

if there are any experienced python developers out there that would like to port the bonjour version of haplome connect, please let me know.  this would help solve the compatibility problems.

Posted by admin on Oct 8, 2008 in Uncategorized

download the latest version of haplome connect below (Mac OSX 10.5 only):

(updated 8.08.08)

haplome connect

here is a short tutorial to get a haplome running:

  • install max runtime
  • create an ad-hoc wireless network and connect iphone or ipod touch to that network
  • open haplome connect
  • download this monome app - boiingg v0.1.5 (max 5.0.2)
  • open boiingg with max5 runtime and make sure the osc prefix was set to “/osc” in haplome connect
  • turn DAC checkbox on in boiingg
  • select monome64 under “which monome” dropdown in boiingg
  • before running haplome make sure haplome settings in settings menu are set to 8 rows and 8 columns
  • connect haplome to haplome connect
  • press a button on phone and it should start bouncing and playing sounds on the computer
  • press a button on the buttom row and that column will stop bouncing
  • if successful you can now download other monome apps from monome.org and run them with haplome
